Returning to the SAP Cup: Daniel’s journey back to Germany

The final whistle may have been blown, but for Proceed Group’s Daniel Adrianov, SAP Cup 2026 was an opportunity to reconnect with a community he has been part of for many years, and it ended with him being named Player of the Tournament.

SAP Cup is an annual football tournament that brings together SAP employees from around the world, celebrating teamwork, wellbeing and the strong relationships that make up the global SAP community.

Having previously participated six times during his career at SAP, Daniel was invited back this year by the SAP UK football club after organisers found themselves in need of an experienced goalkeeper. Although he now works for Proceed Group, an SAP partner, his long-standing involvement with the SAP football community meant he was able to join the squad once again.

Recognising the value of the opportunity, Proceed Group sponsored Daniel’s trip, enabling him to return to Germany and take part in the tournament.

What began as an invitation to play for one team quickly became a bigger challenge when another goalkeeper was injured shortly before the event. Daniel stepped in to support both SAP UK squads, playing nine matches in a single day during the group stages and helping both teams progress to the knockout rounds.

While the football was fiercely competitive, the lasting impact came from reconnecting with colleagues, meeting new people from across the SAP network and strengthening relationships throughout the wider SAP ecosystem.

To cap off the weekend, Daniel was recognised as Player of the Tournament, a fitting reward for his outstanding performances and commitment to both teams throughout the competition.
